Poplar Ventures today announced that Christian Miller has joined the firm as a Senior Associate. The firm previously announced the closing of its debut $22 million venture capital fund that specializes in making early growth stage investments in cloud-based software technology companies in middle America.
John Willmoth, Founder and Managing Partner of Poplar Ventures, welcomed Christian to the team. “We recognize that investing in a venture backed company is a long journey and understand how critical it is to support our entrepreneurs”, said Mr. Willmoth. “I wanted to bring on board someone who could help me elevate that support. Christian has demonstrated that he knows the investment process but more importantly he has an entrepreneurial mindset.”
Prior to joining Poplar Ventures, Mr. Miller was an Associate for TRP Capital Partners, a private equity firm focused on investments in the transportation industry. While there, he led due diligence and new market research and assisted with portfolio company management, including oversight of go-to-market and profitability strategies and service as a board member. Mr. Miller’s venture career took hold while he was earning his MBA at Purdue University, where he was a Founding Member and Graduate Assistant for Purdue Ventures. He earned his undergraduate degree from Bellarmine University.
At Poplar Ventures, Christian will be responsible for leading deal sourcing and due diligence efforts, providing support to existing portfolio companies, and helping expand Poplar’s market presence. “I have no doubt that Christian will pull his own weight and then some”, said Mr. Willmoth. “He is a great addition to the team and am glad to have him back in Louisville.”
